AB 2023

The 7th International Conference on Structural Adhesive Bonding (AB 2023) took place on 13-14 July 2023. The location of the event was the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), which is located in the northern region of Portugal. FEUP as venue offers excellent facilities for high quality scientific interactions.

This conference is held every two years in Porto. The conference is chaired by Lucas F. M. da Silva and co-chaired by R. D. Adams (University of Oxford, UK). The focus is on structural bonding but all relevant areas of bonding are welcome: Fundamental aspects of adhesion; The science and technology of surfaces; Advances in adhesive materials; Mechanical properties of bonded joints; Innovative designs and applications; Testing and standardization; Industrial aspects; Quality procedures; Environmental and ecological aspects.

Topics of AB 2023:

  • Fundamental aspects of adhesion
  • The science and technology of surfaces
  • Advances in adhesive materials
  • Mechanical properties of bonded joints
  • Innovative designs and applications
  • Testing and standardization
  • Industrial aspects
  • Quality procedures
  • Environmental and ecological aspects

On behalf of the LEVIS project, Blanca Lekube, Project Manager and Scientific Researcher at Leartiker, was discussing metal-composite hybrid joint adhesion and testing optimization of electric vehicle applications. Margarita Canales, R+D technician in the experimental field in the division of Modelization and Advanced Characterization of Materials of ITAINNOVA · Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón,  presented metal-composite joints with debonding on demand functionality for automotive applications.

The presented work has been carried out in collaboration with project partners AIMEN, Tofas and CANOE.
